Meet the staff team

Jen Richards – Chief Executive
Jen joined B healthy together in February 2019. She has over 25 years’ experience of leadership and development in the field of health and wellbeing within the third sector. Her passion is for community led health and empowering individuals and communities to seek solutions to the issues that have negative impacts on their health and wellbeing.
Rebecca Dickson – Senior Community Development Worker
Rebecca joined B healthy together in October 2022 and has worked in Broomhouse since 2018. She has 16 years experience of both working and volunteering within the third sector. Rebecca’s areas of work include creating opportunities for connection and social resilience, and reducing isolation. She has experience in addressing the impacts of health inequalities as well as supporting those who face economic barriers. Meet the Board of Trustees
Dr Christopher McCormack – Chair of the Board
Christopher joined the B healthy together board in 2021. Christopher is a clinical psychologist specialising in sexual health and HIV and also a lecturer in clinical psychology on the University of Essex and University of Oxford clinical doctorate programmes. Although he now lives in England, Christopher grew up in Fife and is a proud Scot. He has worked in the NHS since he was 19 and is passionate about understanding and combating health inequalities. Christopher was a board member of HIV Scotland from 2018 until 2020. He is impressed by the work that B healthy together does – although it is a small organisation, it punches well above its weight.
Lorraine Butler – Treasurer
Lorraine became a trustee for B healthy together in 2025. More details to come.
Emma Hazan – Secretary
Emma joined the B healthy together board in 2025. More details to come.
Katrina Reid
Katrina has been involved with B healthy together since 2011. In her professional life she is a public health practitioner with a keen interest in community led health. She enjoys her job, but her work has a national focus so change can be very slow. Katrina enjoys working with B healthy together as the pace is faster and she can see the impact of our work very clearly. She lives in South Queensferry with her husband, two children and their dog, Scout. She has a busy lifestyle but loves spending time outdoors and relaxing with friends and family when she can.
Dawn Smith
Dawn joined the B healthy together board in 2019. She works at Edinburgh Napier University leading public engagement with research and has been involved in a number of research projects in Broomhouse and South-West Edinburgh. Dawn is a keen advocate of involving community organisations and people in research to make it more impactful and has led several engagement and consultation projects with local groups in the local area in recent years. Previously Dawn was a volunteer for Re-Engage, organising tea parties across Edinburgh, and is particularly interested in the food activities organised by B healthy together staff and volunteers. She enjoys supporting the staff and volunteers at B healthy together as a trustee and is always impressed by the enthusiasm and kindness that’s shared.
Alan Surgeon
Alan has been a trustee with B healthy together since 2023. He owns a recruitment company, working with small to medium-sized non-profits throughout the country. He is passionate about social justice, inclusion and working within the local community. He’s also a trustee for OneKind and The Dog Aid Society (he is extremely passionate about animal welfare too!). He thinks it’s great to be part of the amazing work within the community of Broomhouse.
